Mates Prepay

If you’re new and looking for a Prepay plan with us, check out our MyFlex Prepay plans.

You can no longer switch or sign up to Mates Prepay, however if you are already on a Mates plan with us, you can continue to enjoy this plan until May 2023. During May we'll be moving you to MyFlex Prepay and we'll be in touch with you in April about your move. You can continue to log in to My One NZ app to manage your plan and Add-Ons.

You’ll need a smartphone and My One NZ to design your plan which has to consist of minutes, TXT and data of $10 or more. Mates Prepay lasts 30 days and the same plan auto renews if you have enough credit. You must renew your plan within 48 hours of it going on hold to carry over unused data and mins up to the cap. If I’m already with Mates Prepay and switch plans, can I switch back?

No – if you switch to another Prepay or Pay Monthly plan you won’t be able to switch back to Mates Prepay.

Can I still get the 500MB bonus for being under 25?

Yes, if you’re already on a Mates plan you can still score 500MB of bonus data when you confirm your age with Facebook or show your ID at any One NZ store. Get your 500MB data bonus with each $20 top up once you've confirmed you're under 25. 500MB bonus lasts for 30 days or until your next top up of $20 or more. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to My One NZ Online (verification does not work through My One NZ App).
  2. Under ‘Account Summary’ find the mobile number you require and select ‘<’ to give you more options
  3. Select ‘View Plan’
  4. Scroll to ‘My Plan’
  5. Select ‘Find out how’ which will take you to the age verification page
  6. Select ‘Confirm on Facebook’
  7. Log in to Facebook
  8. Bonus 500MB added – you’ll receive a text confirming that your bonus has been added

If this didn’t work, you may need to change your primary account. Here’s how:

  1. Login to My One NZ Online (verification does not work through My One NZ App).
  2. Select ‘Account Settings / Manage services’
  3. The mobile set up as the primary mobile service will show at the top with a green dot next to it. If this is not the mates account you want to verify you will need to select the ‘switch’ button and select the correct mobile number
  4. Once the correct mobile number is selected and shows at the top with a green button you will need to log off and on again so to ensure the changes have been saved
  5. Under ‘Account Summary’ find the mobile number you require in the list and select ‘<’ to give you more options
  6. Select ‘View Plan’
  7. Scroll to ‘My Plan’. If you are on the correct plan and your number is the primary account holder then the age verification tile will appear
  8. Select ‘Find out how’ which will take you to the age verification page
  9. Select ‘Confirm on Facebook’
  10. Log in to Facebook
  11. Bonus 500MB added – you’ll receive a text confirming that your bonus has been added

If you don’t have Facebook, you can confirm your age by showing a valid Photo ID accepted in New Zealand (Passport, Student ID, Driver’s licence) which shows your photo, your full name and date of birth at any One NZ store.

Once you’ve done either of these, you’ll get your first 500MB bonus immediately without needing to top up $20 or more

Can I still get Mates exclusive Add-Ons?

Yes, if you’re already on a Mates plan you can still get the exclusive 1GB Add-Ons that are available for a set period of time of the day from just $3 – use your My One NZ app to see what Add-Ons are available to you.

Night Cap can only be used the day you buy it. Morning Hit can be used on the day you buy it or the next day depending on the purchase time and data amount used and All Nighter can be used from 10pm-7am and the next 10pm-12am depending on the data amount used.

To use an Add-On you have to have a working Mates Prepay plan and Mates Add-On Terms and Mates Terms apply.

I’ve run out of data before the end of the month, what do I do?

No sweat, you can redesign or renew your plan at any time before the month is finished in My One NZ. This is a great option if you’ve got the spare coin and want maximum value. It's important to know that any remaining minutes or data in your month’s bundle can’t be carried over into this new bundle though.

I can’t get in to My One NZ, what do I do?

Just go to the My One NZ sign-in page and use the 'Forgotten Password' feature. As long as you have your mobile handy, we can reset your Online ID in no time.

We know passwords can be tricky but your password can only be reset three times within 24 hours. After this, we have to lock your account. If your account gets locked, give us a call on 777.
