Handy tips for roaming overseas
Getting connected
Turn on your mobile phone, and it should automatically select a local network.
Once you have connected, you’ll receive a welcome TXT from us with details about roaming rates.
Didn't work?
You can manually select a network from your phone's Setting menu.
Look for the top level Mobile setting, and within that, look for 'Network Selection'.
If you are travelling to Australia, the US, Singapore or Taiwan, here are some important things about your roaming services.

Making calls and sending TXT messages.
You'll need to add a country code to the beginning of any numbers you call or TXT on your mobile, including the country that you're in.
The country code for New Zealand is 64. To use that code to call a New Zealand number, you replace the 0 at the beginning of the number with +64 (New Zealand’s country code), which means: 03 345 6789 becomes +64 3 345 6789 and 021 345 678 becomes +64 21 345 678.
It costs 80 cents per TXT to send, unless you’re Daily Roaming in a Daily Roaming destination.
Receiving calls and TXTs.
Your friends and family in New Zealand can use your number to contact you when you’re overseas. Callers outside New Zealand will still need to use New Zealand’s country code - i.e. the +64 then the number - even if they’re sitting right beside you.
Important: Incoming calls are included in Daily Roaming. Receiving calls in other destinations costs $1.15 per minute. If you have a mobile plan and you'd rather not receive calls, you can divert them using your mobile's 'Divert All' feature.
It's free to receive TXTs.

In most destinations you can use the shortcode 707 to call your voicemail.
When you can’t use 707 you’ll need to use the number +64 21 700 700 instead.
When you call your voicemail, you'll be asked to enter your mobile number and your 4-digit PIN.
If you've forgotten your PIN call us for free from your mobile on 777 from a select range of countries - or 888 if you're a business customer, to change the PIN.
