How it works

For a monthly premium of $15.50 (incl. GST) you’ll get the following covered:

  • Accidental loss, stolen and damage cover for mobile phones valued up to $2,100 with your One NZ Pay Monthly SIM.
  • Accidental loss, stolen and damage cover for your mobile phone accessories valued up to $150 if they are lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your mobile.
  • Up to $1000 reimbursed to your Pay Monthly account for unauthorised use of your mobile after it goes missing. This includes data, calls and TXT usage.
  • Worldwide coverage for loss, theft and damage when roaming on the One NZ network plus up to $500 for hiring a replacement mobile overseas for up to 14 days.

How do I get PhoneInsure?

Buy PhoneInsure within 30 days of buying a mobile phone from us on a Pay Monthly plan and we’ll add the monthly premium to your One NZ bill.

You can only buy PhoneInsure from an authorized One NZ store, our online store, or as part of a mobile upgrade from One NZ. If you change your mobile phone device, give us a call on 0800 800 021 so we can ensure your new device is covered.

About conditions and excesses

“Mobile” means any mobile phone which is registered and approved for use on One NZ’s Network, including a Refurbished Mobile but is not a tablet or net book.

Lost or stolen mobile phones will be replaced at our option with either a refurbished mobile phone or with the same or similarly featured One NZ approved model.

Lost or stolen accessories with your mobile phone will be replaced with an accessory of same or similar featured One NZ approved model.

If your mobile phone accessories are not lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your mobile, and you receive a replacement mobile, the accessories are not covered under replacement.

If your mobile phone sustains damage we will first attempt to repair it with new or refurbished parts, if it is economically viable for us to do so. Where your mobile phone can’t be repaired we will, at our option:

  • Replace your mobile with a refurbished mobile phone of the same or similar specification, or
  • Where a refurbished mobile phone is not available, replace it with a new One NZ approved mobile of the same or similar specification.
Different excesses apply based on the replacement cost of your phone. These differences are detailed below. For phones with a replacement cost of up to $1,800 (inclusive):

  • $200 for the first claim within 12 months
  • $250 for a second claim within 12 months
For phones with a replacement cost of between $1,801 and $2,100 (inclusive):

  • $350 for the first claim within 12 months
  • $400 for a second claim within 12 months

How do I cancel my PhoneInsure policy?

You can cancel your policy at any time by giving us a call on 0800 800 021.

You can make a claim online at any time or call 0800 505 021 Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 5:30PM (NZDT). We recommend that you lodge your claim within the first 48 hours.

Report it:

You must report it to the police within 48 hours. Obtain a police report reference number to use with your claim.

Claim it:

Lodge your claim online at One NZ or call the PhoneInsure team on 0800 505 021, within 48 hours, to initiate your claim.

Maliciously damaged

Report it:

You must report it to the police within 48 hours. Obtain a police report reference number to use with your claim.

How to make a claim when you're overseas

If your phone is lost or stolen while you're overseas, call us immediately on +64 9 366 9239 to bar your account and make your claim. You can also make a claim online at any time.
