Your credit rating and Comprehensive Credit Reporting

About Comprehensive Credit Reporting (CCR)

At One NZ, we take part in Comprehensive Credit Reporting (CCR). This is a system that helps build a clearer picture of your credit history by including both the positive and negative parts of your repayment record. In the past, only things like missed payments or defaults showed up on your credit file. Now, with CCR, your good payment habits — like paying bills on time — can also count in your favour.

CCR gives lenders a more balanced view when you apply for credit, and it means your responsible financial behaviour can be recognised. It also helps keep the system fairer and more accurate for everyone. If you’d like to learn more about CCR and how it works in New Zealand, you can find general information at www.privacy.org.nz.

How we share payment information

At One NZ, we share customer payment information with New Zealand’s three main credit bureaus — Equifax, Illion, and Centrix — to support Comprehensive Credit Reporting (CCR). This includes both positive account history (like bills paid on time) as well as any overdue balances. A customer’s payment history stays visible on their credit report for 24 months.

We send updates to the bureaus once a month, covering payments made in the previous month. Because of this, there may be a short delay before changes appear on a customer’s credit file. If an update is needed, the bureaus usually process it within about 10 business days. Some third-party apps (like ClearScore) may take longer — up to 4–6 weeks — but that’s outside our control.

We’re committed to accuracy

We’re committed to making sure the information we report is accurate and reliable, as required by the Credit Reporting Privacy Code. If there’s ever an error on our part, we’ll work with the bureaus to correct it quickly.

How defaults are listed

If an account is passed to a collection agency and a default is listed, that default stays on a customer’s credit report for 5 years. Once the account is paid, the status will show as Paid, and it will automatically drop off once that 5-year period ends.

Overdue accounts

When an overdue balance is $50 or more, it may be reported as being in arrears. In these cases, late payment fees may also apply.

Payment arrangements

If a customer sets up a payment arrangement with One NZ, it may have an impact on their credit score, as other providers can see this information.

Disputes and complaints

Disputes and complaints are not included in CCR reporting. This means they are unlikely to affect a customer’s credit rating while they’re being worked through.
