Nano-SIM, Micro-SIM and mini-SIM cards

Sim card size guide showing NanoSIM

The smallest SIM card available is the Nano-SIM format, which measures 12.3 × 8.8 × 0.67 mm. Most current mobile phones and mobile devices use a Nano-SIM slot.

If you have a new phone, and you need a Nano-SIM to use it, we can help. Simply visit us in store - and we can also help you to transfer your contacts.

To make sure you can always use the correct size SIM, we’ve combined the Standard SIM (Mini-SIM), the Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM into one - it's called the Triple SIM. You may also see this referred to as a Tri-SIM.

SIM stands for Subscriber Identification Module. It is a card with an embedded chip that is inserted into your mobile phone. Nano-SIM also has a technical name of 4FF (which simply means 4th Form Factor).
iPhone 5 was the first phone to use the Nano-SIM sized card, back in 2012.

If your phone needs a Micro-SIM, just pop this middle sized part of the Triple-SIM out, then place it in your phone.

The Micro-SIM measures 15 x 12 x 0.76mm.

Standard SIM (Mini-SIM)

If your phone takes a standard size SIM you don’t need to do anything - just place the SIM card straight into your mobile phone.

The Standard or Mini-SIM (also known as 2FF) measures 25 x 15 x 0.76 mm.

Switch SIM size and keep your phone number.

You can keep your mobile number when you move to a new SIM card.

Before you start this change, you'll need your mobile phone and your new SIM card.
You can visit a One NZ store to swap your number over - where we can help you with this process.

If you need to you can get one in-store or buy a SIM card online.
