Check here for possible outages
We know how important it is to stay connected, and how frustrating it is when your internet or phone connection goes down.
But sometimes an outage does happen, so our goal is to minimise disruption and get connectivity back and up and running as quickly and safely as we can.
To see if there is a planned or unplanned outage in your area, please enter your address into the map below for Mobile and Wireless Broadband updates. Otherwise check the table on the Fixed Broadband and Other Services tab for updates about landline, fixed broadband and other services including our Rural Broadband services, the My One NZ app and other unexpected network events.
Outages can occur for two reasons:
1. Planned outages allow us to carry out essential upgrades to our networks so we can provide better connectivity long-term. Our accelerated mobile network investment program will see One NZ upgrade or build hundreds of new cell sites around Aotearoa each year, and bring One NZ 5G to many more cities.
We try to provide advance warning wherever possible, and sometimes these upgrades may take a couple of hours or cause intermittent loss of services for a couple of days. If you have a medical condition that increases your need to call 111, or you work from home, you might want to consider alternative connectivity options or move elsewhere during this time.
2. Unplanned outages, on the other hand, occur when something unexpectedly goes wrong and disrupts service. This could be due to a power cut at a cell site, earthworks/construction work that damages a fibre cable, or a technical fault that our engineers need to fix.
We have people working 24/7, 365 days a year, to ensure that we keep connectivity going for you. When these outages happen, we react immediately to fix the issue as soon as possible.
