For security reasons and to prevent the risk of fraud, we need to verify your identify before you purchase an item on an Interest Free Payment plan.

This notice sets out the personal information we need to verify your identity. You can also find details about how we will use your information, how long it is retained for and your other options should you not want to undertake a digital verification check.

If you want to proceed you’ll get a text from ID Verse to your mobile phone with a link and some steps to follow. You will be asked to take a photo of your photographic ID, a live video of your face and to provide your phone’s location details. This information will be used to compare against our records and other records accessed via a third party service (credit reference agencies and ID Verse).

You may decline consent to undertake the biometric verification check. If you do not wish to undertake the biometric verification check, you can purchase your item upfront (or at a lower value that does not require an ID check).

Before we undertake your ID verification we will also ask you to provide your consent.

What you will need

• New Zealand drivers licence
• or passport

Important Information to know

We will ask you to provide:

• live video of your face (which may include information contained in the background of the video);
• photo of your photographic identification (including all details on photographic identification document such as your name, address, date of birth, licence number etc); and
• your phone’s location details.

Please ensure that you take a video with a plain background to avoid including other people in the background.

What we will use your information for:

The information we collect will be used to compare against our records and those held by credit reference agencies and ID Verse for the purpose of verifying your identity and the prevention of fraud.

How long we will hold your information for:

We will retain the basic verification result to tell us if your ID was verified or not, your license number, version number and expiry, and limited transactional information in an anonymised format. We know that biometric information is highly sensitive. This information will be securely destroyed no later than 30 days of the verification check.

Your rights

You may decline consent to undertake the biometric verification check. If you prefer, you can purchase your item at full price without interest free terms.
