Your Internet Service Provider
The internet services that we provide.
ISP stands for "Internet Service Provider". Put another way, an ISP is a company that connects you to the internet. That's what we do.
As an ISP, One NZ offer Fibre broadband and Wireless Broadband.
About Wireless broadband.
We offer Wireless Broadband which means we are also a WISP or Wireless Internet Service Provider. The difference with Wireless Broadband is that it uses our mobile network to connect you, while DSL, Cable and Fibre broadband used physical networks. Wireless becomes a great option in areas where Fibre networks can't reach.
For Rural areas good reliable internet is provided using our 4G and 5G frequencies, and also thanks to our long partnership with the Rural Connectivity Group (RCG) and with Farmside. Having access through RCG towers supports wider mobile coverage across rural New Zealand.
The word "Wireless" simply means a service that connects over a Mobile network; not to be confused with "WiFi".
Our reputation.
Keep in mind that our broadband is fast. Take a look at our Fibre Max plans for speed and unlimited data. We're proud to have highly rated average speeds for both Fibre Max and Fibre 500 plans.
For Business, One NZ won Canstar's Most Satisfied Customers Award for Small Business Telecommunications for 2025, with a 5-star rating for Overall Satisfaction from small business owners.
Speed at your place.
At home, using our SuperWiFi or SmartWiFi makes your internet experience even better.
You can find out what broadband types are available at your house, and choose your internet plan here. You can choose an open term broadband plan, sometimes called a no contract term, which runs month to month.
How to switch ISP.
If you have been thinking about switching to One NZ, you can change ISP, simply by following a step-by-step process.
And if you have switched to a power-and-broadband deal, and have discovered that you are actually paying more for power now, make the smarter move and switch to One NZ.
There are some great reasons to choose One NZ for internet, and because of our company history we have expertise in broadband.
It's best to start with a checklist, before you take any action with these steps.
You'll need to know whether you are on a fixed term contract, and if there are any fees or penalties in changing away from your current ISP.
Now you have this information and are confident you want to change ISP, then it's time to take action.
The first step is to sign up to a One NZ broadband plan. Just like when changing your power company, you start by talking to your new provider first. We want you to have the best possible speed, so we'll recommend the best possible plan for your location.
Once you have signed up to your new broadband plan with us, you'll want to know the start date for the new broadband plan.
And next you can contact your old ISP, and arrange for that service to be cancelled.
Broadband Support.
We are here to support you with your internet connection.
Right from the outset with installation of the supplied modem, through to troubleshooting, help with billing, and updates with any broadband outage.
One NZ is a Telecommunications Carriers Forum (TCF) member. That means One NZ follows codes on scam blocking, emergency coordination, and network reliability, leading to better overall service stability.
This also shows our commitment to technical standards for interconnection, which supports low-latency gaming and reliable streaming on shared UFB infrastructure.
Please contact us with any broadband issues you might experience.
