One NZ 5G Wireless Measurement
How we measure our 5G Wireless Broadband speeds
The 5G Wireless Broadband speeds shown on our broadband plans page are One NZ national peak time average speeds, measured in July 2026 using TP-Link Deco BE48-5G modems. They are averages, not a guarantee, so the speed you experience may be higher or lower.
July 2026 results
Average download speed: 316 Mbps
Average upload speed: 37 Mbps
How the test works
We randomly tested 1838 TP-Link Deco BE48-5G modems over a 5G internet connection.
Between 6 and 13 July 2026, tests ran automatically at random times during the national peak time period of 7pm to 11pm, Monday to Friday. Some modems completed more than one test.
What can affect your speed?
These tests measure the speed delivered to the modem, rather than the WiFi speed to a particular device.
The speed you experience on a phone, laptop, TV or other device may also be affected by your WiFi setup, the device you are using, your location, distance from a cell tower and network demand. These results are based on the TP-Link Deco BE48-5G modem, so using an older modem may also affect your speed.
Keeping our figures up to date
We’ll repeat this testing each quarter and update the published speeds.
