Choose the plan that works for you

Flexible, self-managed connectivity for devices across New Zealand. Now with extended satellite coverage for remote areas, powered by Starlink Direct to Cell technology.

*One NZ Satellite: Eligible IoT plan, eligible device and line of sight to the sky required. Capacity management and fair use may apply. Terms apply, see one.nz/iot/connectivity-plans/.

One NZ Satellite IoT is here

Learn how APIS Solutions drive better productivity in beekeeping with near real-time information on every hive, wherever they happen to be.
Play
As a world-first, One NZ IoT can now connect through One NZ Satellite*.
Enabled by Starlink, this Direct to Cell technology means customers can connect eligible cellular IoT devices from anywhere in NZ with line of sight to the sky.

Better coverage
Eligible IoT devices can connect anywhere in NZ with line of sight to the sky. This opens up 40% of the country not covered by traditional networks.

Simple tech
One NZ Satellite can connect to the same devices as traditional cell towers making it simpler and more affordable than other satellite options.

Affordable plans
Add One NZ Satellite to your eligible IoT plan with data bundle options to suit your needs.

Other things to know

All prices are in NZ dollars and exclude GST. Devices must use the APN ‘iot’ when using the Terrestrial Network or the One NZ Satellite Network. Terms apply, see one.nz/legal/business-terms.

Terrestrial (Traditional Cell Tower Network):

  • One New Zealand networks include 4G, 5G, Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT), Long-Term Evolution for Machines (LTE-M).
  • Coverage can be affected by several factors including radio interference, atmospheric conditions, geographic factors, network congestion, maintenance, outages on other networks and provider sites, the configuration or limitations of your device or other operational or technical difficulties which means that you may not receive some or all of the service in certain areas or at certain times.
  • Depending on the quantity of connected devices we may require your IoT device to use a One NZ certified module. A certified module is always preferred. Refer to one.nz/iot for a list of One NZ certified modules. This list may change at any time. We cannot commit to ongoing support for specific devices, technologies or end user applications.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that all devices are compatible with the network at all times (including as it evolves) and that each device operates correctly as intended.
  • An optional Private APN is available to provide flexibility in how devices connect to your backend systems.

One NZ Satellite Network:

  • One NZ Satellite is only applicable for data on IoT Local Connectivity Data Bundle plans.
  • Charged as a monthly add-on fee per connection with included data allowance.
  • Satellite data add-on bundles are rated separately from your terrestrial data usage. Once the included data bundle is fully utilised, overage charges will apply.
  • TXT is available as a separate add-on and can be used over either terrestrial or satellite networks. Once the included data or TXT bundle is fully utilised, overage charges will apply.
  • Voice calling is not currently available.
  • Existing IoT Lite Connectivity customers who move to IoT Local Connectivity and add-on One NZ Satellite require a SIM swap for existing devices. Device certification and approval still apply.
  • One NZ reserves the right to modify the network for commercial or regulatory reasons.
  • One NZ Satellite operates on the 4G network on Band 7.
  • Access to One NZ Satellite requires your IoT device to use a One NZ certified module. Plans will not be provided for non-certified modules and may be disconnected if unknown modules are used. Refer to one.nz/iot for a list of One NZ certified modules. This list may change at any time. We cannot commit to ongoing support for specific devices, technologies or end user applications.
  • We must approve your IoT solution specifications before deployment on our network. Performance will be baselined for capacity management. Usage exceeding limitations may be approved individually. If you exceed usage or damage our network, we may suspend your service until compliance is achieved.
  • One NZ Satellite is designed for applications that minimise data utilisation when using the satellite network.
  • You must ensure your IoT solution is set up to prioritise use of the terrestrial network as the primary means of communication, and to use One NZ Satellite only where the terrestrial network is unavailable.
  • Devices used in your IoT solution that are using One NZ Satellite must immediately switch back to the terrestrial network when the terrestrial network becomes available.
  • Devices must have a clear line of sight to the sky. There may be intermittent periods between satellites but this will reduce over time as more satellites are launched.
  • Data and TXTs may take some time to go through. This may be affected by your location. It may take longer than when you use the terrestrial network.
  • If a Force Majeure event occurs we may prioritise emergency services and mobile traffic.
  • One NZ Satellite will work all over NZ’s landmass and out to 20km offshore of the NZ coastline. It does not work when roaming overseas.

IoT Local Connectivity Data Bundle Plan:

  • A monthly fee per connection with included data allowance.
  • All data allowances are aggregated into a pool, which can be used by any of the connections on the IoT Data Bundle plan.
  • Once your data pool is fully utilized, out of bundle charges apply. See Pricing Schedule. Individual connections continue to use pooled data beyond their individual allocation.
  • IoT service offering is a subscription-based model with a monthly fee for terrestrial plan entitlements and an add-on charge applicable where One NZ Satellite is required.
  • Exclusions on IoT Local Connectivity Plans include: video calling, roaming, in-flight roaming, and calling or texting premium numbers.
  • IoT Local Connectivity plans are for use with machine-to-machine applications and solutions only. SIM cards are supplied by us for the sole purpose of installing each SIM card into a device for use only with Internet of Things (M2M) applications and solutions. This does not include mobile handsets.
  • TXT and Voice add-on bundle services are available for an additional charge.
  • Self-service portal adjustments made by customer administrators are legally binding.

IoT Local Connectivity Pay As You Go Plan:

  • A monthly fee per connection. Pay only for data you use.
