Using 5G.
Our 5G network is available in multiple locations right across New Zealand. If you're already set up for 5G, You'll automatically switch to the fastest speed in an area with 5G coverage.
An efficient mobile network.
We use smart technology in our cell towers, making our mobile network more efficient. For example, in low use periods, like very early in the morning, our system can power down parts of the network to save energy. And then when someone goes to make a call or use data, the network quickly turns itself back on. This smart technology gives our network resilience, keeps it being reliable and it is ultimately better for the environment.
Remember that our Satellite to Mobile service adds to our mobile cell towers to give you coverage outside areas with traditional cell coverage*. This significantly enhances our network capability and availability, covering a much wider area.
Broadband over Mobile networks.
Wireless Broadband is only available in areas with sufficient 4G or 5G coverage.

New Zealand's reliable mobile network
Our 5G network now covers 69% of the population.
Our 4G mobile coverage uses radio frequencies at 700MHz, 1800MHz, and 2600MHz. Now that 3G has been shut down, you'll find more places available with 4G, and some may have a stronger signal.
4G delivers a great experience with data speeds, connectivity, and voice quality with VoLTE.
