Why One NZ Let's Get Connected

Life is all about connections

To information and entertainment. To services and customers. To Aotearoa and the world.

But most of all, to each other. Our relationships define who we are as Kiwi.

One NZ is here to help make those connections easier, safer and more reliable.

Let’s get connected.

(JADE) "Hello Cow."
Opening shot on of Lewis the Bull's head and horns, front-facing while he licks his lips – deadpan.
(JADE) "You're probably wondering who this random fella sitting in your field is."Panning mid shot showing Jade wearing a puffer vest, layers and shorts while sitting on his tramping pack, on top of a rock in the middle of a field next to Lewis. Loch-like lake and large mountainous rocks in the background.
(JADE) "I've been trying to figure that one out myself."Profile of Jade looking past camera, in the background over his shoulder while he contemplates.
Over-the-shoulder of Jade looking towards a stand-alone stone building nestled in the landscape.
(JADE) "That's my home in NZ."Jade raising his phone to face Lewis behind him, showing the Bull his family and friends.
(JADE) "And that's Mum and Dad."Close up of Jade holding his phone with his family showing on the screen.
Jade pull his phone closer, thinking about his family and where he came from. Lewis continues standing is the background.
(DAD) "Biologically speaking, you are not in fact the fruit of our loins."

(MUM) "Just biologically speaking."
Recent memory cut to the past of Jade, Mum, and Dad sitting in their spa at home.
(JADE) "Yeah, I know."

(MUM) "You know?"
Jade looking back at his parents knowingly, hunched in the spa making for a mildly awkward moment as they realise he was always aware.
Jump transition to Mum, Dad, and young Jade in the living room. Soft panning across the room as Mum and Dad dance while Jade sits on the ottoman watching.
(JADE) "Yes."Jump transition back to the spa, front-on shot of Jade affirming awkwardly.
Jump transition back to close up, slightly top-down angle of Jade back in the field. Jade sighing resignedly after all the moments that led him to this point.
(JADE) "This necklace, it was with me when they got me."Close up of the family portrait of Mum and Dad, younger, and craddling a newborn baby Jade. Dad is smiling effervescently while pressed up to Mum and holding a small, tartan box.
(JADE) "So I figured, if I find out where it was from..."Jump to the past, close up on the same tartan box from the portrait as young Jade's small hand reaches out take off the lid, exposing a necklace adorned with a unique rock. Cuts to mid shot of young Jade, standing side on in the lounge. Behind him, a cosy fireplace is ablaze while he dangles the necklace inquisitively in front of his parents who are sitting on the couch.
(JADE) "I find where I was from."Cut back to Jade in the field with Lewis, holding the necklace out from his chest while still around his neck. He looks pensively into the distance.
(JADE) "Do you guys know this rock?"

(FISHERMAN 1) "No."

(FISHERMAN 2) "No."
Wide-angle view of a mid-sized fishing boat out at sea on a clear day. Three people are standing towards the stern. Shot of Jade in a canary yellow life jacket. He holds out the necklace from his chest, pointing at it while squinting from glare as he asks two fishermen if they know anything about the rock. They stand next to each other, both say no in succession.
(TEEN GIRL 1) "No."

(TEEN GIRL 2) "Nah."
In a vast field with pylons, Jade holds the necklace out in front of three teen girls while horseback, continuing his enquiry. None of the girls know.
(JADE) "Would you know where this is from?"

(ARCADE KID) "No."
Jade asks again in a neon-glowing arcade where he holds out the necklace to an arcade kid who also doesn't know.
(JADE) "Seen this before?"

(BUSH HIPPY) "No…?"
Deep in the bush, Jade asks 'Not Jeff' if he's seen the rock. Not jeff is oblivious as he stands in his underwear outside of his remote bush-igloo. Jade turns around and leaves.
Jade collapses on the couch in the evening with a defeated look on his face.
(JADE) "But then my good friend Pepper, who works in this phone shop, rectified the situation"Jumps to Jade and Pepper in a One New Zealand store. Jade leans towards Pepper who shows him a tartan finder app showing the origins of the pattern which are in Scottland.
(JADE) "And that's why I'm here, waiting for that place to open, so I can get some answers."Cuts back to Jade in the field with Lewis. He looks towards the stone building as a Scottish woman hangs an 'open' sign outside on a post and walks back towards the shop. Jade nervously stands up from his rock.
(JADE) "Excuse me... Would you potentially have any idea where this might be from?"Jade walks up to the store with his pack on and grabs the attention of the woman. She turns to face him and looks intently at the necklace that Jade shows her.
Flashback jumps to a woman and embracing a man in a lowlit interior. She jumps on him and he disappears from view. Her wild grin. Cuts to the back of a yellow WRX steamy back window and a foot making a print. Flashes of a geyser, then a microscopic zygote, followed by a cartoon of an atom, then a newborn crying.
(SCOTTISH WOMAN) "Potentially."Cuts back to the woman nodding slightly with a side smile.
Still holding out the necklace, Jade nods too. A wave of relief washes over his face. The words 'To Be Continued …' mark the screen.
Camera pans backwards to show Jade and the Scottish walk towards the building together. End frame sequence follows with the One NZ logo and the tagline, "Let's Get Connected".
