Our 'Always Connected' promise

We know you love to be online, especially at home.

That’s why if you have your home broadband with One NZ and one of our latest mobile plans, we’re making sure that you and your family stay connected.

Our ‘Always Connected’ promise

If your home broadband stops working and we can’t fix it straight away, we’ll use NZ’s leading mobile network to give you enough mobile data so everyone in your house stays connected while we get it sorted. We call this our ‘Always Connected’ promise. The data can be applied for up to four eligible One NZ consumer mobiles in your household. And, by setting up Wi-Fi hotspots from these mobiles, you can instantly connect all other devices in your home.

Always Connected data is available for a period of seven days once allocated. It will expire either once you have used up the data allowance, or at the end of the seven days. Should issues persist outside of the seven day window, you may apply to extend the Always Connected period.
Always Connected data is for use in New Zealand only.
Always Connected data is in addition to your base plan data and will be used before your normal plan data allowance.

Minimising outages to keep you connected

We know how important it is to stay connected, and how frustrating it is when your internet or phone connection goes down. Often that's the only time you notice your connection. But it does happen sometimes.
Outages can occur for two reasons: Firstly, planned outages allow us to carry out essential upgrades to provide better coverage in future, and secondly, unplanned outages can occur when something unexpectedly goes wrong and disrupts service. This can include natural disasters, of course.

We have people working 24/7 to minimise any disruption and get connectivity back and up and running as quickly and safely as we can.

Our Network timeline

We’ve invested billions of dollars into our mobile and fixed networks to provide remarkable technology solutions to improve kiwi lives and businesses all around Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Our mobile network has simply got faster as technology progresses, now with more 4G, 4.5G and 5G available than ever before.

It's reliable. One NZ secured the top position in the 2025 umlaut Mobile Benchmark for the fourth consecutive year, scoring 852/1000. This benchmark specifically rated One NZ as the most reliable network in New Zealand, leading in its ability to successfully connect and maintain high-quality calls and data sessions.

When choosing the best mobile network, look for verified reliability in the places you actually spend time, consistent speeds for everyday apps. And remember to consider Satellite-to-mobile coverage to keep you connected when you're out in remote areas.

The Network timeline continues.

Our company has continued to innovate in Mobile Networks over time, hitting significant milestones along the way. We were the first company to introduce 3G to New Zealand, and then 4G LTE, and then 5G.
Following the launch of 4G LTE in 2013, we were also the first to use the 700MHz frequency for 4G, starting in Papakura on July 14, 2014.

In April 2023, we announced our collaboration with SpaceX, showing that Satellite to Mobile would become a significant part of our Network strategy and capability.

In May 2024, One NZ got approval to acquire Dense Air and its 2600 MHz spectrum rights, a large mid-band block used for 4G and 5G capability.

In December 2024 the SpaceX collaboration was launched, being the first active Satellite service of it's kind in the world, showing innovation as a core part of our company's nature. One NZ Satellite started with TXT messaging, and then progressed to support data over Satellite.

At the end of March 2026, we shut down our 2G and 3G frequencies, refarming that spectrum to support 4G and 5G capability and coverage. That also means our 4G and 5G coverage has become more widely available than ever before.
