Archived Terms - Pay Monthly Roaming

Terms and Conditions for Roaming with Pay Monthly (On Account) plans (before March 17, 2015).

Agreement.
These terms and conditions form part of your Agreement with Vodafone New Zealand Limited (Vodafone). If you have a Consumer Pay Monthly (On Account) plan, the Consumer terms and Mobile terms and Conditions will also apply.
If you have a Business Pay Monthly plan, the Business terms will also apply.
Roaming is not available on Base plans.

For Red Sure Spend* customers who request Daily Roaming, these terms and conditions as published on our website and updated from time to time, apply to the use of each mobile and data device on a Red Sure Spend pricing plan that uses Daily Roaming while roaming overseas.

*Vodafone’s “Red Sure Spend” pricing plan was previously known as “Corporate Sure Spend” (and may still be referred to as “Corporate Sure Spend” for billing purposes). “Red Sure Spend” and “Corporate Sure Spend” refer to the same pricing plans.

Acceptance.
You will be taken to have accepted these terms and conditions as soon as you start using roaming. We may vary these terms and conditions from time to time in accordance with the Consumer terms and Mobile Terms and Conditions and the Business terms.

Service outside New Zealand.
Subject to your On Account Connection Agreement, your Sign-up Agreement, or, for Red Sure Spend customers who request Daily Roaming, your Master Services Agreement, and to your meeting our credit criteria, we will enable roaming within 48 hours of receiving your request. You acknowledge that service outside of New Zealand is provided by external carriers and is subject to those carriers' terms and conditions.

We do our best to ensure a great roaming experience by providing access to overseas networks, but we are unable to guarantee the quality or coverage that any other country provides.

Pay Monthly plans with Daily Roaming.
These Terms and Conditions cover the Daily Roaming, call / TXT rates and data roaming for all Red+ and Black Pricing Plans, and all other Consumer Pay Monthly mobile plans currently on sale, all Red+ Business and Business Black Pricing Plans and Business Basics Pricing Plans, Red Share for Business Pricing Plans and Red Sure Spend Pricing Plans (for Red Sure Spend customers who have requested Daily Roaming).

Daily Roaming is available across the following mobile Pricing Plans: Red+ Essentials, Red+, Red+ Super, Black, Black Super and all other Consumer On Account plans currently on sale including $29, $39 on account plan, $59 on account plan and $69 on account plan, Red+ Business Essentials, Red+ Business, Red+ Business Super, Business Black, Black Business Super and Business Basics Pricing Plans, Red Share for Business Pricing Plans and Red Sure Spend Pricing Plans (for Red Sure Spend customers who have requested Daily Roaming) (‘Eligible Plans’) in selected destinations (‘Daily Roaming Countries’).

How to get Daily Roaming:
It applies to customers on Vodafone Red+ Pricing Plans, $29, $39, $59, $69, Business Basics, Vodafone Red+ Business Pricing Plans and Red Share for Business Pricing Plans. Daily Roaming is also available to Red Sure Spend customers who wish to request Daily Roaming.

Business Basics Pricing Plans (1 month; 12 months; 24 months):

Charges.

Daily Roaming.

  • Daily Roaming is available across the following mobile plans: Red+ Essentials, Red+, Red+ Super, Black, Black Super and all other Consumer On Account plans currently on sale including $29, $39 on account plan, $59 on account plan and $69 on account plan, Red+ Business Essentials, Red+ Business, Red+ Business Super, Business Black, Black Business Super and Business Basics Pricing Plans and Red Sure Spend plans (for Red Sure Spend customers who have requested Daily Roaming) (‘Eligible Plans’) in selected destinations (‘Daily Roaming Countries’). See our list of countries for Daily Roaming.
  • With Daily Roaming you’ll be able to use your Eligible Plan minutes, TXTs and data allowances when travelling in Daily Roaming Countries for a daily fee. For all Eligible Plans except Red Sure Spend, this includes any monthly recurring data Add-Ons but no other Add-Ons or special rates (including Data Test Drive which is a special data allowance that is not part of your Eligible Plan’s inclusions and can only be used in New Zealand). For Red Sure Spend, no add-ons or other special rates (including premium numbers) can be used with Daily Roaming.
  • Your Eligible Plan minutes and TXTs can be used to call or TXT local numbers in the Daily Roaming Country, local numbers in New Zealand and local numbers in Australia (if your Eligible Plan includes Australia calling and TXTing; see My Vodafone for your plan allowances).
  • For Eligible Plans except Red Sure Spend, calls and TXTs to any other destination will be treated as international calls or TXTs and all other activity will be charged as per your standard Eligible Plan rates as if you had made the call or TXT from within New Zealand, (excludes any special international rates).
  • For Red Sure Spend customers who request Daily Roaming, calls and TXTs to any other destination will be treated as international calls or TXTs and will be charged as per the Standard International Call and TXT Charges set out in your contract.
  • The Daily Roaming charge applies each day you use your device in a Daily Roaming Country. The Daily Roaming charge will be triggered when you do any of the following:
    • Make a call (including a call to voicemail)
    • Receive a call
    • Send a TXT
    • Use mobile data. This includes any data used by your mobile or data device, including email and any data used by apps on your mobile or data device. (Most devices have data roaming switched off by default. If you would like to disable data roaming while abroad this can be selected through the settings menu on your handset. The methodology you use to do this will vary slightly by handset brand. It is also dependent on the software version your handset is running, this mean even handsets of the same make could be slightly different to change. We advise you refer to the manufacturer’s website or your handset manual for the exact process for your handset.) Please note: if you are on a Black or Business Black Pricing Plan or on a Red Sure Spend Pricing Plan that includes data roaming in Australia, data use on your mobile in Australia is included in your plan, so any data use on your mobile while in Australia on these plans will not trigger the Daily Roaming Fee. However, Red Sure Spend data connections will be charged the daily roaming fee whilst roaming in Australia.
  • The Daily Roaming charge is only applied on those days that you use your device while in the Daily Roaming Countries. We’ll count a day as 00:00 to 23:59 NZ time. If you travel to another Daily Roaming Country in the same day you'll only be charged the daily charge once for that one day that you use your device.
  • One Daily Roaming charge is applied per mobile data device on an Eligible Plan. For example, if you are in a Daily Roaming Country and use both your phone and tablet (which are connected to a Red+ plan) you will be charged a Daily Roaming fee for both devices.
  • For Eligible Plans other than Red Sure Spend, if you exceed your Eligible Plan allowances you will be charged at your standard Eligible Plan casual rates for making calls and sending TXTs as if you were in NZ. You can find more about these charges in My Vodafone. If you use up your monthly data allowance while you’re overseas you will be given the standard Flexi Data option to purchase another data bundle at your Eligible Plan rates.   • The Daily Roaming Charge will be as set out on our website, and pricing will be subject to change without notice. Please check our website or My Vodafone before you travel for the latest pricing.
  • Daily Roaming charges are in addition to your monthly plan charge and will be applied to your next bill. GST is charged at 0%.
  • Maritime or In-Flight Roaming are not included in Daily Roaming, and are subject to separate rates and terms and conditions.
  • Charges may be delayed if the external carrier is delayed in advising Vodafone of roaming activity. Please note, there will also be a delay in this activity being available in My Vodafone.
  • Daily Roaming is only available to customers who are normally residents in New Zealand, and can only be used in Daily Roaming Countries for a maximum of 90 consecutive days at a time.
  • If you are not in a Daily Roaming Country, ie a country other than those set out in the list of Daily Roaming Countries (‘Non- Daily Roaming Country’), other roaming rates will apply. These terms and conditions are set out below.
  • Vodafone reserves the right to (hard) steer traffic to certain network operators based on commercial agreements in place.
  • Data roaming availability is also subject to change without notice.

Roaming calls and TXTs in non-Daily Roaming Countries.

  • When you are roaming in a Non-Daily Roaming country you will be charged per minute or per TXT at rates specific to the Non-Daily Roaming Country you are travelling to. View roaming rates or Sign in to your account to see the rates that will apply. When you receive a call you will be charged $1 per minute. Receiving a TXT is free.
  • This pricing does not include premium numbers, satellite calls, in-flight roaming calls, maritime calls and fax/data calls. See more detail about other types of roaming.
  • GST is charged at 0% for all roaming usage. If Vodafone is unable to assess whether you are in or out of New Zealand, which may be the case with some in-flight roaming, GST will be charged as required by law.

Data Roaming in non-Daily Roaming Countries (Data Angel Overseas).

  • If you wish to use data you need to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle (except in certain circumstances set out below). Data is required for functions such as sending and receiving emails or PXTs, using apps and browsing the internet. Your device will be unable to use data overseas without an external internet connection (e.g. Wi-Fi) unless you have purchased a Data Roaming Bundle.
  • Data Roaming Bundles can be purchased either before you leave New Zealand (via My Vodafone) or once you reach your overseas destination (where you will receive TXT notification and/or be redirected to a Vodafone web page). A different Data Roaming Bundle will be required depending on the destination you wish to roam to. To find out the rates that will apply see Data Angel Overseas or Sign in to your account. Data Roaming bundles can only be used in the specified country and can not be transferred.
  • You may only have one Data Roaming Bundle per zone at any one time.
  • Once purchased, you must start using your Data Roaming Bundle within 30 days. Once you have started using it in the specified country each Data Roaming Bundle lasts for 30 days commencing on the day data is first used. Any data not used within these 30 day periods will be lost.
  • When reviewing your current Data Roaming Bundle online or in My Vodafone, data usage will be displayed rounded up to the nearest 1MB.
  • Data Angel Overseas service applies to Data Roaming Bundles only and not casual data.
  • iPad users will not receive a welcome TXT or 80% and 100% notifications but your mobile web browser will re-direct you to the page to purchase Data Roaming Bundles.
  • You cannot buy Data Roaming Bundles via TXT if you are on iPad or Corporate APN.
    • Please note that if your device is unable to send/receive TXTs you will not be able to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle via TXT on that device once you have left New Zealand. You will need to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle before you leave New Zealand or call a Vodafone customer service representative from your destination free on +64 9 355 2007 or for business customers free on +64 9 962 9888 to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle.
  • Data Roaming Bundles do not apply in the following circumstances:
  • For machine to machine and telemetry devices, or any other device not operated by a person. Data roaming rates specific to these devices and plans apply.
  • For in-flight and maritime data use. Casual in-flight roaming and maritime roaming rates apply.
  • Where Data Roaming Bundles do not apply, if you use data while roaming you will be charged for data at the rates set out in your plan and/or at casual data roaming rates (including without limitation in-flight and maritime), as applicable. You agree to be charged for using casual data roaming at the rates set out and advertised by us either via our website or other channels of communication from time to time.

Pay Monthly plans without Daily Roaming.
These Terms and Conditions cover calls, TXT and data roaming rates for all plans not eligible for Daily Roaming or for Red Sure Spend plans where customers have not requested Daily Roaming for their roaming. This excludes Red+ and Black packages, and all other Consumer Pay Monthly mobile plans currently on sale, all Red+ Business and Business Black Pricing Plans and Business Basics Pricing Plans and Red Sure Spend plans where customers have requested Daily Roaming.

Data roaming (Data Angel Overseas).

  • If you wish to use data you need to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle (except in certain circumstances set out below). Data is required for functions such as sending and receiving emails or PXTs, using apps and browsing the internet. Your device will be unable to use data overseas without an external internet connection (e.g. Wi-Fi) unless you have purchased a Data Roaming Bundle.

Calling and TXT Charges.
Unless otherwise advised by Vodafone from time to time all outgoing calls are charged at airtime rates based on the charges from the external carrier. This airtime rate will vary from carrier to carrier. International rates will also apply where you make international calls (including calls to voiceMail). Charges may change without prior notice and all prices are indicative only. If your pricing plan includes monthly minutes, these minutes do not apply to roaming charges. 0800 (1800) and other special numbers may be charged for by external carriers.

TXT messages sent while roaming have a surcharge applied by the external carrier. The surcharge rate will vary from carrier to carrier. A 160 character limit applies per TXT. If exceeded, you will be charged for an additional TXT and so on, per 160 characters used.

Incoming calls are charged at the international rate applicable at the time the call is made to you. Some external carriers may add an incoming call rate from the time you answer the call. You agree that all charges incurred while roaming will be charged to your monthly statement. You agree to pay all charges in full when they are due. (There may be delays in Vodafone receiving notice from external carriers of charges to be billed to you. This does not affect Vodafone's right to charge you or receive payment from you.)

Vodafone Traveller Calling and TXT Charges.
On Vodafone 'Traveller' - On Account customers are charged a Standard Home rate that is dependent on their plan (see My Vodafone) plus a 'Zone Charge', per minute (or part thereof) for making outgoing calls when overseas (outside of NZ).

Vodafone Traveller splits the world into 4 zones below and your 'Zone Charge' varies depending on which Zone you are calling from. The current Zones and rates are:

Promotions.
Promotional offers to Vodafone New Zealand customers may not apply to you while you are roaming. If you are in doubt please log into My Vodafone.

Liability.
As roaming involves services provided by networks other than Vodafone New Zealand Limited, you agree that we will not be responsible for the way in which any external carrier provides or fails to provide any service (including disconnection, lack of coverage or the performance of that carrier's network).
