Can I control how much data someone can use?

All users in the sharing group have the freedom to use as much data as they want while sharing from the same data entitlement. However, you can set those entitlements, buy more data, view and track data usage via My One NZ .

Why can't I set a data limit for my data?

By default only the Red+ plan account holder in the Red Share group can manage data limits. If you are on a Red Share plan, you require Billing Account access to do the following:

  • Change data limits
  • Buy additional data Add-Ons

To change your level of access, contact the Red+ plan holder.

Is a 24-month plan available?

Red Share and Tablet Share plans are only available on a 1-month term.

Why did you change the Data Limit on my plan to maximum?

If your monthly Red Share Data entitlement changes to less than a previously set data limit, we will remove the data limit and set it to "Maximum". This may happen for the following reasons:

  • You change to a Red+ plan which has a lower monthly data entitlement than the previous plan
  • A reoccurring or one-off data Add-On is removed or expires when your new billing month starts

The Red+ plan account holder will be notified by TXT if this happens so they can set a new data limit.

How can I allow a sharer to change data limits?

To manage data limits you must be the Red+ plan account holder or have Billing Account access in My One NZ . If you are the Red+ plan account holder, you can give Billing Account access to other connections in the sharing group using My One NZ.

I am on a Red+ plan and can't change my own data limits?

To ensure that the Red+ connection can always stay in control:

  • Your own connection can't have a data limit applied (it is always set to "Maximum")
  • You can manage data limits on all your sharing connections.

Why was I not able to use all the data that I was given?

Data limits are a monthly limit. They are not a dedicated allocation of data from the total shared data. This means even if you have a data limit set to your connection, the Red+ plan account holder (who has no limit) and other sharers can still use up all the shared data before you reach your set data limit.

How do I view data usage of others in a group?

All users in a sharing group can view, using My One NZ , the data used and the remaining data. If you have the billing account PIN, you can view your own data usage and also the data used by other users in the sharing group. If you do not have the billing account PIN, you can only view how much data is remaining for the group and your own usage.

Can I use my shared data when roaming?

If you are roaming in any of the multiple Daily Roaming countries , you can use your shared data. If you run out of data, you can purchase a data bundle via Flexi Data provided you have the required account access PIN. If you are travelling to other destinations that are not part of the Daily Roaming countries, you will need to purchase data via Data Angel Overseas . Shared data is not available in selected countries.

How can I change my data limit?

If you have Billing Account access, you can change your data limit through My One NZ for desktop. If you do not have Billing Account access in My One NZ, you will need to contact the Red+ plan account holder to have your data limit changed.

Our Customer Care agents are unable to modify data limits as this feature is only available through self-service.

What plans can I setup Red Share data limits on?

You can setup data limits to control your usage on the Red Share plan. Data limits are not compatible with Red Share for Business.
