Mobile | Hotspot and tethering

This article explains how you can connect a device to your mobile handset.

Before you begin

It's pretty simple to use your phone's data allowance for other devices, which is called tethering, or to use your phone as a Personal Hotspot.

You'll need:

  • Data allowance in your mobile plan.
  • A 3G, 4G, or 5G mobile network connection.
  • A USB data cable (if you want to physically connect your devices) or to connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Steps

Follow the steps below too see how to use your mobile phone as a hotspot.

Connect using Wi-Fi

  1. Switch on tethering or your Personal Hotspot on your phone.
  2. Choose your phone from WiFi setting on your computer or tablet.
  3. Enter the password you set up for your WiFi connection on your phone.

Connect using a USB cable

  1. Turn on tethering or your Personal Hotspot on your phone.
  2. Connect your devices using a USB cable.
  3. Go to settings on your phone.
  4. Select your phone from the list of network connections available.

Connect using Bluetooth

  1. Turn on tethering or your Personal Hotspot on your phone.
  2. Pair your phone and your device.
  3. On your phone, select Pair and enter the code displayed on your other device.
  4. Select your phone from the list of network connections available.
