Mobile | 'Emergency Calls Only' message showing

You may see a "No service" message instead.

Follow these helpful steps to resolve the 'No Service' or 'Emergency Calls Only' message if it shows on your phone.

What causes this issue.

If your phone shows "Emergency Calls Only" or "No Service", it means your phone isn't connecting to our mobile network. This can be caused by a SIM card issue, a phone fault, or a network outage.
As the message says, you can still make Emergency calls to 111.

Steps to resolve the 'Emergency Calls Only' issue

  1. Check whether the issue affects other phones.
Check if people around you have the same message on their phones.

If they do, the most likely issue is the mobile signal in your area. Confirm whether it is a mobile outage on our Network Status page .
If the issue is only with your phone, continue to step 2

  2. Restart your phone.
If you are able to, while your mobile is switched on:
    • Remove the battery.
    • Wait for 30 seconds and then reinsert put the battery.
    • Turn your phone back on.
Please note: If you cannot remove the battery from your phone, simply turn your phone off for 30 seconds and then turn it back on.
If the "Emergency Calls Only" message still appears, continue to step 3.
  3. Test your SIM.
Try your SIM card in another mobile phone if you have one available. (This only applies to physical SIM cards, of course, so if you use eSIM continue to step 4.).

If the message doesn't appear in the other mobile phone, then the issue is likely to be with your phone. Please use our Device Repair guide
If the message still appears, or you do not have another mobile, then - Continue to step 4.

  4. Contact us.
If only your SIM card is affected, then contact our team . We'll check whether there's an issue with your SIM card, your account, or connection to the network.
