What kind of mobile coverage does One NZ provide?
One NZ delivers a strong, clear signal to more 99% of areas where Kiwis work, live and play. Our network offers 4G (LTE), 4G Extended, across large areas of New Zealand, and we aim to keep improving our coverage with new 4G and 5G cell sites being built every month.
How should you check coverage?
The most accurate way is to check your specific locations for coverage at your home address, your workplace or school, and places where you travel regularly.

Mobile Frequencies
Our mobile network operates on the following frequencies:
(2G and 3G networks have now been shut down, completed in March 2026).
- 4G - 700MHz (Band 28)
- 4G - 1800MHz (Band 3)
- 4G - 2100MHz (Band 1)
- 4G - 2600MHz (Band 7)
- 5G Band N7 (NR 2600MHz)
- 5G Band 78 (NR 3500MHz)-NSA
For visitors coming to New Zealand - if your phone operates on any of these same frequencies and it's not locked to your home network, you should be able to use your phone on with us.
You should check with your home-country service provider before you leave. If you have been set up to Global Roam to New Zealand you will be able to switch on your mobile and use it here.

Experiencing 4G dropped calls?
Our mobile network utilises various frequencies to deliver comprehensive 4G and 5G coverage. One of our 4G frequencies (Band 28B) is specifically designed to extend coverage in rural areas and penetrate deeper into buildings in urban settings.
Yet some older 4G phones, and those purchased from overseas or parallel imported may not support this frequency. If you own one of these phones, you might experience reduced 4G coverage, leading to an increase in dropped calls.
To resolve issues like these, we recommend upgrading to one of our current models.
