How Satellite Invite works
1. Sign up in a few minutes
If you have an eligible phone and are on another mobile network, you can sign up for your free trial.
2. Launch your eSIM
To connect to the One NZ Satellite network, we’ll email you an eSIM to install and activate on your phone. This is a digital SIM that works alongside your existing SIM and lasts the duration of your trial.
3. TXT when you need it most
If you're using iMessage or RCS for messages, your phone will automatically use the One NZ Satellite network when you don't have traditional cell-tower coverage. Otherwise, you'll need to switch to your One NZ eSIM to send a TXT when you don't have traditional cell-tower coverage.

How to TXT via space
Check you are satellite-ready
You need an eligible phone to TXT through space. Check this below
before signing up to your free trial.
Ensure you have clear line of sight to the sky
When out of traditional cell-tower coverage, find an open space or area unobstructed by things like buildings, trees and other physical structures. This helps your phone “find” the satellites.
Look for 'One NZ SpaceX' on your phones network banner
When your phone has connected to a satellite, the One NZ SpaceX network banner will show. There may be short gaps but don’t worry - the banner will reappear as your phone reconnects to the next satellite that comes into coverage.
Send your TXT via the TXT app on your phone
You can check your TXT has been sent by looking for the time stamp. If your TXT fails to send, you may need to switch your conversation line with the person you want to TXT from the wop-wops to your One NZ eSIM. Check your network banner and ensure clear line of sight to the sky, then try again.
Eligible phones
The One NZ Satellite Invite is available on a range of eligible phones, with more becoming eligible over the coming months.

- 'Testing' means that our team are testing different phone models to ensure that One NZ Satellite TXT works with them.

- Unsure what phone you're using? Check your phone's Settings to find out.

Key points below:
Key points below:
- You’ll need to select your existing phone number as your default line for calls and messages/TXTs. This means when you call or TXT your friends and family in traditional cell-tower coverage, they’ll know it’s you.
- You’ll need to select your temporary One NZ eSIM for mobile data in order to experience the One NZ Satellite network. If you're using iMessage or RCS for messages, your phone will automatically use the One NZ Satellite network when you don't have traditional cell-tower coverage. Otherwise, you'll need to switch your conversation line with the person you want to TXT from the wop-wops to your One NZ eSIM. Don't forget to switch back when you're in traditional cell-tower coverage so the calls and messages you send to that contact are from your current phone number.
What happens at the end of my free trial?
At the end of your trial, your temporary One NZ eSIM connection will be disconnected. We will contact you to discuss your experience during the trial and a welcome offer should you wish to sign up to a One NZ Pay Monthly or Business mobile plan.
