Voice Calling Over Broadband | Troubleshoot Degraded Service

This article contains some steps you can try if you are hearing static or robotic or choppy audio on your VoIP phone line.

Before you begin

Ensure your internet is working as Voice Calling over Broadband relies on an active Internet connection.

Steps

You can try the following to see if it resolves your issue:

  1. Check your Broadband Speed - If you are experiencing slow speeds it could be the reason your experiencing degraded service
  2. Power cycle your modem - Try turning your modem off and then back on to see if that resolves your issue
  3. Check cables - Ensure your cables are plugged in correctly as a loose connection can be the cause of your issue
  4. Plug handset directly into your modem - Ensure that your phone is plugged directly into the phone port on your modem
  5. Try spare cable - Try using a spare cable between your modem and your phone to see if that resolves your issue
  6. Try different handset - Try using a spare handset to see if that resolves your issue

What to do if that didn't work?
