How do I know that PC Protection properly installed and running?
Please check the PC Protection pack icon displayed on your Windows system tray. If the product installation is still ongoing you can see an indication above the icon. In case of product malfunction or out-of-date databases, the icon will change accordingly.
- To open the main user interface, double-click the PC Protection pack icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- The upper part of the Home tab shows the security status of your computer. For example, when the status is shown as Protected, your computer's protection is up to date.
- The security levels of the different security components, for example Normal or High, are shown next to the name of the component.
- The lower part of the Home tab shows the date and time of last update check.
- By clicking on the tabs on the left you can see the details of all the security components.
How can I exclude a file or folder from scanning?
To exclude a folder from real-time scanning, do the following:
- Open the product by double-clicking the PC Protection pack icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Click the Virus & Spy Protection tab and then 'Advanced'. The Advanced dialog appears.
- Click 'Real-time Scanning' on the menu list.
- Click the 'Exclusions' button (on the bottom left corner). The Exclude From Scanning dialog appears.
- Click the 'Objects' tab.
- Select the 'Exclude Objects (files, folders,)' checkbox.
- Click the 'Add' button and browse to the folder you want to exclude.
- Click 'OK' to confirm your selection. You can now close the dialog windows.
The object you have selected and all its contents will be excluded from real-time scans until you remove it from the Exclusions list.
How do I uninstall PC Protection?
You can uninstall the PC Protection pack through the Windows Control Panel.
Follow the instructions and turn your computer off and then on again after the uninstall.
To uninstall the product, do the following:
- Click Start.
- Select Control Panel
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- Locate Vodafone Security - PC Protection and click Change/Remove.
- When you are asked to restart your computer, restart it.
Can I install it on several computers or partitions?
You get a unique licence key when you buy this product. If you subscribed to a 1-user licence then you can only install the PC Protection pack on 1 computer or partition.
If you subscribed to a 3-user licence then you can install the PC Protection pack with the same subscription key on 3 computers.
If you subscribed to a 12-month subscription you will only get a 1-user licence If you need more you can purchase additional licence keys from the PC Protection web page.
How do I cancel my PC Protection subscription?
If you have a monthly subscription you can deactivate the Vodafone Security - PC Protection pack at anytime by signing into My One NZ . However, as your PC Protection pack is billed on the 1st of the month if you deactivate mid-month you will still be charged for that month. The software will remain on your PC (unless you uninstall it) however you will no longer receive any updates so your computer will no longer be protected from new viruses, spyware, spam and other security issues.
If you have a 12-month subscription and for any reason you are unhappy with the product you can let us know within 7 days from the date we send you your licence key. If after those 7 days you wish to cancel you can at any time by removing it from your PC, but because you have paid up front your licence is still valid for the paid subscription duration.
Can I upgrade to a three-user licence?
Yes - it's easy to upgrade from a one user licence to a three user licence. You can do it yourself at any time in My One NZ

How to change the allowed and blocked senders
To open PC Protection, double-click the product icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
To change the allowed and blocked senders:
- On the Spam Control page, click Advanced .
- Click Spam Control > Allowed Senders or Filtered Senders on the navigation pane on the left.
- In the list, select the e-mail address you want to edit, and click Edit . The Edit
Sender/Domain dialog box opens. - Edit the selected email address, and click OK .
- To remove an email address from the list, select the address and click Remove.
How to remove conflicting security programs
During installation, most common conflicting security programs, such as other antivirus or firewall programs (eg. Norton, Symantec, AVG) are removed automatically.
If they cannot be removed, you are asked to remove the programs manually through Windows Control Panel:
- Click Start
- Select Control Panel
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs. A list of programs installed on your computer is shown.
- Select the program to remove and click Remove. The antivirus programs may have several related components. Repeat this step to uninstall all. (Related components have the same product name)
- Restart your computer.
How to change the Internet Shield firewall rules
You can only change an Internet Shield firewall rule that you have created yourself.
To change your Internet Shield firewall rules:
- Double-click the blue PC Protection pack icon on your Windows system tray at the bottom right corner of your screen to open the main menu.
- Click the 'Internet Shield' tab on the main menu.
- Click on 'Firewall . . .Configure' on the Internet Shield pane. The Firewall window opens.
- Click the Add button on the 'Rules' tab. The Firewall Rule Wizard opens. Follow the wizard to define your own firewall rule(s).
Getting two computers to see each other's files
To enable file sharing between PCs, you need to create a firewall rule allowing Windows file and printer sharing. The Firewall Rule Wizard can help you create the rule.
To run the Firewall Rule Wizard:
- Open the Vodafone Security Pack main user interface, and click the 'Advanced' link to open the advanced settings.
- In the 'Advanced' pane, click 'Internet Shield' to expand the menu, and then select 'Firewall'.
- In the Firewall pane's 'Rules' tab, click 'Add' to run the Firewall Rule Wizard.
Follow the Firewall Rule Wizard to create the new rule:

1. | Selecting name and type for this rule. Type a rule name such as FileSharing. Select 'Allow' as a rule type. Click 'Next' to continue. |
2. | Select IP address or IP address range for this rule. Remove the tick from 'Any IP Address"' and click 'Edit'. In the 'Add Host Address(es)' dialogue to the following: * Select IP Range and enter 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254 * Click 'Add To List'. * Click 'OK'. Click 'Next' to continue. |
3. | Select services for this rule. Scroll down the list and set the following: * Windows file sharing and Network Printers - put a tick in this box, then double-click between the computer and globe icon until it is a double arrow. * Windows network browsing - put a tick in this box, then double-click between the computer and globe icon until it is a double arrow. Click 'Next' to continue. |
4. | Select alerting type. For 'Alert type', it is recommended to tick 'No alert'. Click 'Next' to continue. |
5. | New rule summary. Review the setting for the new rule and click 'Finish'. You should now see your new rule added to the list and it should be ticked/enabled. You can now close the Security Pack windows. |
How do I allow all network traffic?
To allow all network traffic:
- Right-click the PC Protection pack icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Select Unload from the menu.
- To allow all Internet traffic, select Unload and allow all network traffic.
- To restore your security again, right-click the product icon and select Reload.
Note: Your computer is not protected when you allow all network traffic.
How do I allow web pages for small children?
To allow web pages for your small children, follow the instructions below. To open the product, double-click the product icon at the bottom right corner of your screen.
Tip: If you use Internet Explorer, you can allow (or block) new sites by using the PC Protection Webfilter button in the browser's toolbar.
- On the Parental Control page, click Advanced .
- Click Parental Control > Small Child on the navigation pane on the left.
- Select Allow only selected sites.
- Click Configure.
- Select the Allowed tab.
- Click Add.
- In the Allow Web Site dialog box, type the address of the web page to which you want to allow access.
- To allow access to the entire www.example.com web site, type www.example.com
- To allow access to a part of the www.example.com web site, type www.example.com/subsite - Click OK .
You can block or allow web pages for your teenagers in a similar way.
Can I transfer my subscription to another computer?
If you make a second installation of the PC Protection pack on another computer using the same subscription key and you have only subscribed to a 1 user licence, then your subscription will be transferred to the new computer and your old installation will stop working.
Please note: If you've subscribed for a 3-user licence you can install the PC Protection pack onto 3 different computers.
If you have problems transferring the subscription from one computer to another, do the following:
- Uninstall the product from both computers:
a. Click Start .
b. Select Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. - Do the following on the computer to which you want to transfer the subscription:
a. Restart the computer to which you want to transfer the subscription.
b. Delete the product folder in the installation directory.
c. Reinstall the product.
d. After you have entered your subscription key and registered it, a message
informs you that the subscription is already registered to another computer. Click
Next. The product will be registered to your new computer.
How will I know when my 3 months free is over?
Your 3 months' free Vodafone Security - PC Protection will start from the first chargeable month that you sign up to the service. If you've activated the PC Protection pack mid-month, you'll also get the rest of that month free! The PC Protection pack is billed from the 1st of the month.
So if you sign up on the 15th of December your 3 months free will run through to the end of March.
Don't worry though we'll let you know on your bill when your 3 months free of the PC protection pack will come to an end and you'll start getting charged.
How do I change the Parental Control settings?
New rules can be added from the advanced settings of Parental Control. On the Parental Control tab click on the 'Webpages allowed /denied' link.
This will open a view listing all visited, allowed, and denied websites in their own tabs. New sites can be added to allowed or denied lists using the add button.
If you are using Internet Explorer, new sites can be listed as allowed or denied using the PC Protection pack Webfilter button in the browser's toolbar.
Change the security level in PC Protection
- Double-click the blue PC Protection pack icon on your Windows system tray at the bottom right corner of your screen to open the main menu.
- Click the 'Internet Shield' tab on the main menu.
- Click 'Internet Shield . . . Change' on the Internet Shield pane. The Internet Shield Security Level window opens.
- Select the desired security level from the drop-down list.
- Click Apply to start using the selected security level.
The Internet Shield page now shows the new security level . The firewall rules and Application Control settings change according to the selected security level.
I got an email message about a virus. What should I do?
Most likely you have received a chain letter that spreads information about a non-existent virus, or a hoax.

3-user licence do I need to activate them all at once?
No. Even if you sign up to a 3- user licence you don't have to activate them all at once, but you will be charged the total monthly cost of a 3-user licence even if you've only activated 1 or 2 of the 3 licences. Please note: If you subscribed to a 1-year licence product you will only get a 1 user licence If you need more you will can buy additional licence keys.
