Mobile | Emoji sent as PXT (MMS)

This article explains why emoji sent through TXTs are converted into a PXT and thus could incur an extra charge.

Why do you get charged for sending TXTs with emojis in it?

Sometimes you may incur a charge for sending a TXT with emojis in it. This happens as some handsets convert TXTs that contain an emoji into a PXT message (also known as MMS) to increase its compatibility with the receiving device. Because PXT messages are not included in your plan TXT bundles, it can result in an unexpected charge.

How does my device change my TXT into a PXT?

The change in message type from TXT to PXT is determined by the Operating System on your device. This is not related to our network.
