This article provides steps to help you upgrade your B525 modem firmware.

Before you begin
You should only upgrade your modem's firmware when requested by our Technical Support team.
We recommend that you backup your modem's configuration
.
How your settings could be affected
In most cases you will be able to update your modem's firmware without any impact to your services. However, it is important that you are aware that this firmware update:
- Could remove any custom or advanced configuration settings in your modem
- May change the current default Admin password of your device
- If you have a phone(s) attached to your modem, there will be a disruption to services during the upgrade. You can minimise the impact by backing up and restoring your modem configuration .
Automatic process
Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1
The Home screen appears
From the top-right side of your screen, click Log in
Complete the following fields
- User name:
Password:
Please note: Your username and password were created when you first set up your modem
Click Log in
Click the Update tab
The Update screen appears
From the options below, select how you'd like to update your firmware:
From the left-side menu, select Online Update
Click Check for Updates
If there is a new firmware version available, you are given the option to download it.
Manual process
Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1
The Home screen appears
From the top-right side of your screen, click Log in
Complete the following fields
- User name:
Password:
Please note: Your username and password were created when you first set up your modem
Click Log in
Click the Update tab
The Update screen appears
From the options below, select how you'd like to update your firmware:
From the left-side menu, select Local Update
Click Browse...
The File Upload window appears
Find the file and click Open
Click Update
After the update is complete, a confirmation message appears.
