About the credit or debit card surcharge fee

About the surcharge fee for online credit and debit card payments.

What is the surcharge fee?

The surcharge fee is a charge for any direct debit and one-off payments made using credit or debit cards online. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and JCB credit or debit cards incur a 1% (incl. GST) surcharge fee when paying online.

The surcharge fee only applies when paying online, it does not apply to in-store payments.

What does it cover?

The fee is the processing costs we incur for direct debit or one-off payment made by credit or debit card payments made online.

What is a one-off payment?

A credit or debit card payment is considered a one-off payment when:

  • It isn't set up as an automatic recurring monthly payment.
  • You make a payment online through the My One NZ, on our website, or by calling Customer Care.

It will be considered a one-off payment even if you choose to pay this way each month for one or more accounts.

What is a Variable Credit/Debit card Payment?

A Variable Credit/Debit Card payment is a recurring, automatic payment from your credit or debit card which deducts the amount due at the same time every month.

You can setup a Variable Credit/Debit Card payment from your bank account (which avoids the 1% (Incl. GST) surcharge fee) or from a credit or debit card (which incurs a 1% (Incl. GST) surcharge fee).
