Will the apps in each Pass ever change?

Yes, apps included in One NZ Pass can change without notice. For an up to date list of apps that are included please see https://one.nz/pass/ .

When you say "endless', is it really endless?

Yes, endless data does mean endless, with the exception of a small amount of data, outside of our control, that will be taken out of your plan entitlement.  For example, an ad served up from a third party while streaming a video.
Standard charges apply for the items below, but are not limited to:

  • Advertisements and advertisement links that are displayed within apps.
  • Analytics.
  • Apps using features on your device. For example, your calendar may have permission to access data in the background or use location services.
  • External links and navigation to other websites, apps, news, blogs, walls, maps, app stores.
  • GIF library.
  • Maps and location services.
  • Podcasts.
  • RSS feeds.
  • Software/application updates happening at the same time.
  • Video and content hosted from other sites that are played in the app.

What happens if I run out of data in my plan?

If you run out of data, you are unable to access the apps included in your pass (a positive data balance, or the ability to use casual data on your plan is needed at all times to use the Pass).

This is so that we can ensure you stay connected (some service still require data not included in the pass to allow content to be displayed correctly. E.g. advertising, notifications, content hosted by other sites, analytics, app updates).

If you don't have a positive data balance or casual data on your plan, you will need to purchase additional data to use the Pass.

Do I need a streaming subscription to access endless data?

Yep! Subscription services are not included as part of a Pass. Luckily, there are lots of apps included in One NZ Pass that don't require subscriptions, or you can always set up a trial subscription with a provider to test the waters first.

Is there a fair use policy

While we want you to use the data freely, if your usage is excessive then we will remove the One NZ Pass. Excessive usage is defined as data usage that far exceeds the average.

I'm a content provider, how do I join?

Passes are open to any content provider who falls within the relevant category.

Can I still use Pass overseas?

No, sorry - One NZ Passes are available for use within our network only. If you roam overseas, data charges will apply.
This includes using your monthly data allowance as part of $5 Daily Roaming or your Prepay roaming bundle.

Support

Can I tether or hotspot my mates using One NZ Pass?

No sorry. Hot-spotting and tethering are not allowed with an active One NZ Pass. Each device much have their own One NZ Pass to access endless data.

  • Video content will be optimised to be similar to DVD quality (maximum resolution of 480p / SD) on a smartphones and tablet. This includes all Video Pass content and Facebook videos within the Social Pass.
  • If you need to watch in HD after this time, you'll need to cancel your One NZ Pass.
  • Any unused portion of a Pass is non-refundable.

I think I've been charged for data that's covered by One NZ Pass - what should I do?

If it looks like you've been charged for data that should have been covered by One NZ Pass, please go to https://one.nz/pass/ and check the app you are using is covered by One NZ Pass.

In many cases, you are using small amounts of data from advertising, content hosted by other sites, app updates, or other data that is outside our control.

Checked the above and it still look like it should have been included? Please contact our mobile Customer Care team >

What does video optimisation mean?

Video optimisation will mean video viewed on your device will be similar to DVD quality (maximum resolution of 480p / SD) on your smartphone. If you don't want video to be optimised, you'll need to opt out of the Video Pass and use your standard data allowance instead.

Will One NZ Passes work if I'm using a Proxy, VPN or DNS?

No. If you're using a virtual private network (VPN), a proxy, or your device is configured to an external domain name system (DNS) other than our DNS, then your Passes won't work and any data usage will come out of your monthly allowance.
