Mobile | Turn background data off

This article explains how to turn off background data to save data.

Before you begin

This method may not work for all devices - please refer to your device manufacturer’s user manual if this process does not work.

Steps

iPhone

  1. Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap on General.
  3. Tap Background App Refresh.
  4. either, toggle on or off for individual apps
  5. or, tap Background App Refresh and select the preferred option, Off, Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi & Mobile data..

Android

  1. Open Settings on your device
  2. Tap Apps
  3. Locate the app you want to prevent using your data in the background
  4. Tap Mobile Data
  5. Scroll to Background Data
  6. In the Allow Background Data Usage, toggle it on /off
