Can I choose my new home phone number?

When setting up a new home phone number we can offer you various options on your phone number.

The first three digits of your phone number will be determined by where you live, but the last four digits can often be selected.

If you're moving within the same local calling area, LMNP or Local Mobile Number Portability allows you to take your current phone number with you when you move house or provider, though please note not all of our competitor's telephone exchanges support LMNP.

For example, if you live in Auckland and have an 09 812 xxxx phone number and you're staying the same area i.e. your neighbour's phone numbers all start with 09 812, then you should be able to keep your number but as mentioned above it will depend on who controls the telephone exchange at your new address.
