Choosing your Wi-Fi password
We recommend you use a password that is a combination of:
- Minimum 8 characters
- Minimum 1 lower and 1 uppercase letter
- Numbers
- Symbols
Steps
Please note: When you log into your modem's web management page for the first time, the setup wizard gives you the option to change the Wi-Fi name and password.
- Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1
Enter your password
Note: The default password is listed on the modem sticker
From the top-menu, click Wi-Fi Settings
The Wi-Fi Basic Settings screen appears
Optional step: Click 5GHz preferred to have devices automatically switch between 5GHz and 2Ghz
This option combines the two Wi-Fi bands into one for simplicity.
Alternatively, you can separate them out into 2.4GHz and 5Ghz Bands. Separating them out means that the Wi-Fi names and passwords can be configured individually
In the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi sections, update your Wi-Fi name and Wi-Fi password
Click Save
