Red Share for Business | Your questions answered

This article has all the most common questions and answers about the Red Share for Business mobile plan.

Useful things to know

  • Red Share for Business requires a Red Share for Business data plan and one or more Red Share for Business Connection with at least one smartphone connection. These are not available as stand alone.
  • Red Share for Business Connections use the shared data allocation on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • We recommend your Red Share for Business plan has at least 2 customer administrators. Only an administrator can view current data consumption (per connection) and buy more data once the shared data allowance is used up.

Can other Red+ Business or business plans share data?

No. Only Red Share for Business Smartphone, and Red Share for Business Tablet connections are able to share data from the Red Share for Business data plans.

I want to exclude a connection from shared data?

Any connections you wish to not share data from the shared data allowance will need to be changed to a non-Red Share for Business plan.

Do my connections get data notifications?

Yes. They will get notifications at 80% and 100% of their allocation but their data is not shut off after 100%. Your administrator will need to choose whether to Top Up data or block that connections access to data.

How do I add an administrator?

An administrator can only be added by our Service Agents. Give us a call on 888 .

What happens to unused data?

Unused data from the original data plan will not roll over to the following month. Any unused data from a Top Up, manual or automatic, will roll over to the following month. Data that is rolled over will be consumed first.

Can anyone Top Up data?

No. Only Red Share for Business administrators and users with billing account level access can purchase Top Ups.

What if I remove a connection and need less data?

Red Share for Business administrators can change the size of the shards data pool (as long as it meets their minimum data commitment per connection) using My One NZ self service.

Can I use my data overseas?

Any connections using their plan overseas (Daily Roaming ) will be able to consume data from the sharing group data allowance.

What happens if I run out of data?

You will stop being able to use data (e.g. browsing will stop). You will receive a notification via TXT. Administrators are notified (via TXT) and can then choose to Top Up the data allowance.

Can I have Red Share for Business connections and others on a single billing account?

Yes, you can.

Can I have multiple sharing groups under one account?

No, you cannot.

What happens if 2 admins buy a data Top Up at the same time?

Both sets of data will be added to the pool. Any unused data from a manual Top Up will roll over to the next bill cycle.

What info can an administrator see?

Red Share for Business administrators will be able to see the amount of data each connection has consumed during the current bill cycle. Administrators will not be able to view which sites a connection has visited.

What are my Top Up options?

The Top Up options presented to an Administrator are dependent on the data plan. Administrators will be presented a low and high Top Up option.

Can I set up individual limits?

Individual limits cannot be set for connections at the moment, however you can set up low, medium and high data profiles. After a profile is set up, you can set up email reports to notify you when users reach 80% of their assigned usage. Please note: This does not stop their data, but can be used to monitor data usage.

Are calls to voicemail zero rated?

Yes. Calls to voicemail are zero rated.

How many manual data Tops Ups can I buy?

You can buy 2 consecutive manual Top Ups.
