Change the number of rings for home phone (ADSL/VDSL)

This article steps you through how to change the number of rings on your home phone before voicemail kicks in.

How it works

Depending on the type of phone you have, you may be able to choose the number of times your home phone will ring (between 0 and 9 rings) before voicemail answers.

If you choose 0, you won't hear the phone ring and callers will immediately be diverted to your voicemail. If you don't change the setting, voicemail will answer after four rings.

To set the number of rings

  1. From the main menu, Press 3 for 'personal options'
  2. Press 3 again for 'ringing options'
  3. Press 1 to choose the number of rings Follow the voice prompts.

Things to know

  1. If you've been assigned an 832 xx-xxx mailbox number, you aren't able to change the number of rings.
  2. If you've set up Phone Divert, and selected Phone Divert if not answered, Voicemail will answer calls after 10 seconds.

If the instructions above don't work for you, try the below:

  • Dial *610
  • Follow the voice prompts.
